IKEA Lighting
Flat-packed Mechanical Light
About the Project
For this project I was asked to select a sketch concept created by one of my peers and develop it forward towards a conceptual final design solution. A particular design which illustrated a sliding panel stood out the most to me so I then began to further develop this idea towards my final solution.
The final design solution celebrates a common place in Japanese culture - Shoji screens. The concept features 3 sliding panels which can be positioned at any point around the light and can also be removed as the user wishes. The flexibility of this design gives the user freedom to choose how light diffuses into the room depending on what type of mood they wish to set.
The design can be fully flat-packed, assembles easily and utilises sustainable materials.
